21 Mths: He can JUMP !! // New hat // can hold breath under water

Last night - Friday 8th April 2006, Jasper had his first jump! he jumped up lifting both feet off the floor, and he did it a few times! This morning - Sat 9th April 2006 We went swimming and when I was trying to walk him, he was like jumping every few steps, it made the walk even slower. I had to wait for him to jump, jump, then walk a few steps, jump again.... I put him in a stroller instead. He can walk downstairs (2 feet on a step) when there are no handrail available.

He emptied our paper bin and put it over his head !

He could hold his breath for quite a while under water in today's lesson, he did about 9 or 10 head-under-the-water exercises for a few seconds and back up on air without swallowing any pool water.

He is saying a lot of 3-word sentences, want open door, want open buckle (the safety harness of the stroller or feeding seat), want red ball, want mummy po po(cuddle), want red bayoon(balloon), want climb up, want open door, want bye-bye bib ... he knows his colours, numbers, alphabets very well. In the bookshop he says 'want book', he knows plurals without anyone teaching him. At the traffic light, he says 'green go'. Want go park, want slide, yiu gai yuk (want chicken meat), yiu for tui (want ham), yiu sui(want water).... the list is long...

He happens to know the words 'ball' and 'choy/salad' in chinese, then this lunch time we went to HK Cafe and he pointed and read out the words on the wall menu 'ball choy', 'ball choy' in chinese means 'spinach' in English. My husband didn't have a clue, jasper did.

He has been saying his own dialogue 'whats that - car', 'whats what - XXX', then he points at daddy and says 'whats that - daddy'. Guess we have to teach him 'Whos that' in addition to 'whats that'.

blocks

I have finally lost or misplaced the first baby thing since I became a mum (other friends I know of have already lost many things since day one). I lost his walking harness! I normally used it to secure him to my hand while holding his hand out on a walkie, the same harness has a detachable straps for securing onto a normal chair. One of my kind-hearted friends bought me a new set, I happened to buy another same set elsewhere.

It was a crazy day the day before yesterday, I took him out to the story time group but he felt asleep during the session it was like only 10am! He slept till 12pm, followed by lunch, and then 1pm - 5pm on the dot he slept for four hours straight.

These days I try to give him an early lunch say 11:30am so that he can have his nap anytime he feels tired after lunch.

Sometimes it is a little frustrating for me, when I said 'come' he did just the reverse, he tried to lead me... he ran away far and then waited there for me to get to him or chase him, and then when i get a little near him, he ran further away giggling....

Weather has turned a little cold these days. I dug out his winter clothes from storage and realised just how many size 2 clothes brand new untouched and could be just a litle too small for him. Also put away some toys that he hasn't touched for weeks.

For my personal record, starting from this week, he wouldn't let me hold his cup for him to drink, or wouldn't let my hand get anywhere near his cup. He would swat my hands away as if i am invading his personal territory/zone.

His ready-to-erupt canines are so sharp and pointy, almost look like those of the vampire's.

Also, for the first and only time since his birth, he did his poo in his bath yesterday, and he shouted 'o-see' for attention. Yuck! It wasn't that bad as "they" didn't taint the bath water and we were able to scoop them away and empty and refill the tub.
